STEAM Genius is seeking a talented and motivated Junior Instructor to join our dynamic team. As a Jr. Instructor, you will play a vital role in supporting our Sr. Instructor in instructing and mentoring program participants. You will gain invaluable exposure to careers in STEM and STEAM, fostering your personal career development.
Job Summary
The Junior Instructor plays a vital role in supporting the Sr. Instructors in delivering high-quality STEM/STEAM curriculum to youth participants aged 11-21. This position involves collaborating on curriculum development, leading educational activities, and providing mentorship to young people. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of youth development, a passion for STEM/STEAM, and the ability to create engaging learning experiences. This position requires a minimum of 2 years experience with youth programming as a participant and/or instructor.
Responsibilities and Duties
Assist Sr. Instructors in developing and implementing STEM/STEAM curriculum aligned with program objectives.
Lead educational activities and workshops for youth participants under the supervision of Sr. Instructors.
Provide mentorship and support to youth participants, fostering their interest in STEM/STEAM fields.
Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment for all participants.
Contribute to the overall success of after-school programming initiatives.
Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, as well as state and federal grant
requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth in a programming or instructional capacity.
Demonstrated passion for STEM/STEAM education and youth development.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Flexibility and adaptability to changing program needs.
Culturally informed and committed to providing services toward equity and racial justice.
Demonstrates their ability to provide service to persons with special needs, diverse identities, those who have Limited English Proficiency (LEP), persons who are hard of hearing or deaf, and persons with low literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with curriculum development and implementation.
Knowledge of STEM/STEAM educational best practices.
Working Conditions
This position primarily involves working with youth in a number of different programming sites or after-school program settings. The Junior Instructor may be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate program needs.
Benefits:
This is an hourly position of $20/hr and includes on-site training, with professional development opportunities.
